Zhytomyr on the map

On the banks of one of the most picturesque rivers in Ukraine lies the handsome Zhitomir. More than 260 thousand people live in this territory, and the city is considered a regional administrative center. This is one of the oldest cities and the time is counted since 884, from the moment of the first settlement in this area. For the first time, Zhitomir was mentioned as a city at the beginning of the 14th century. Already half a century later, the city received the status of an administrative center, numerous artisans actively conducted their production on its territory, and trade was also conducted. In a couple of centuries, mining will also begin here. In the places where the granite rock was previously mined, quarries have now been formed, now these are all artificial reservoirs.

From the southern border, Zhitomir is bordered by the Teterev River, which in turn is the main water body. There are many reservoirs in the city, and in its most picturesque corners, on the territory of forest park zones, there are national sanatoriums and health resorts, which were very popular back in the days of the Soviet Union.
