Kryvyi Rih is a Ukrainian city located in the southeast of the country. Its population is more than 560 thousand people, thanks to which Kryvyi Rih is one of the largest cities in the country. It is also considered the longest settlement in all of Europe, with a length of 67 km from north to south.

The reservoirs located on the territory of Krivoy Rog create the basins of the Ingulets and Saksagan rivers.

The city is geographically divided into 7 districts. They are separated from each other and have excellent infrastructure and industrial facilities. Kryvyi Rih is surrounded by mines where iron ore is mined.

Dneprodzerzhinsk is a Ukrainian city located in the Dnepropetrovsk region. The Dnieper River flows in the middle of the city. It splits Dneprodzerzhinsk into left and right banks. To get from one bank to the other, you need to cross a large road bridge. There is also a reservoir dam. On the right bank of the river, you can see industrial facilities and most of the city itself. The population of the city is over 250 thousand people.

The left bank is inhabited by only 1/3 of the population. The left bank, in contrast to the right, is quite small in area, but does not have any polluting enterprises and factories. For this, it is considered environmentally friendly. However, it is remote from the city center and industrial areas. It is often difficult for people to get to the other side. Most of the townspeople love to visit the large islands located on the Dnieper River. They are considered a favorite vacation spot in the city.

There are especially strategically important cities for the Ukrainian industry. One of these is Pavlograd. It is located in the heart of the coal basin in the Donbass. A large industrial zone is separated from residential areas and extends far from them in the northern direction – all enterprises and industries are concentrated there. Until the end of the 18th century, the settlement did not have the status of a city. But already in the 19th century, it developed into a large shopping center.

At that time, the region specialized in the production of grain and flour. The number of products was so large that it allowed exporting to other countries. Russia, Turkey and England willingly bought grain and flour from Pavlograd. It was during this economically favorable period that numerous factories and plants were built. The city’s favorable location at the intersection of roads allowed it to quickly and efficiently establish transport links with Kiev, Lugansk and Izvarino. Together with the nearest large cities (Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye) Pavlograd is included in the group of the most important and strategically important cities for the country.

The mountains

Seas and largest lakes

Chernihiv is one of the oldest cities in Ukraine with a long history, rich in various events. It is located in the north of the country and is one of the largest regional, transport and industrial centers. The Strizhen River passes through its territory; and from the south and southeast, the Desna River and a vast forest area act as a border. Here, along the river Desna, there are many large and small reservoirs.

The entire industrial zone of Chernigov, factories and production that can harm the ecology of the city with their harmful emissions, have been removed from residential areas. They are located in the distance, on the eastern and northwestern outskirts of the urban district. The location of transport routes and the configuration of residential areas of the city form a clear rectangular structure with a predominance of parallel and perpendicular lines. The main strategic object is the M-01 motorway. A considerable number of streets and avenues bear the names assigned to them during the existence of the Soviet Union. For the implementation of intercity communication in Chernihiv, there are two bus stations, as well as an airport and a river station.

The famous Odessa is located on the southern borders of Ukraine. Thanks to satellite images, you can see in detail the features of the city and its borders. Most of Odessa is located on the very coast of the Black Sea, stretching out on the flat terrain of the bay area. The presence of direct access to the sea made it possible to form a naval base here.

The city itself is famous for its beauty and cultural and historical attractions. Its historical center was included in the UNESCO lists as a cultural heritage of Ukraine. In addition to the developed sanatorium and resort activities, which is a consequence of the proximity of the sea coast, such industries as oil refining and mechanical engineering are also successfully functioning and developing in Odessa. The Dniester River flowing through the urban district provides water supply not only to the city, but also to all adjacent settlements. Odessa beaches, which are tens of kilometers long, are famous and popular in many countries.

Nowadays, Ukraine is spoken of as the largest country in Europe surpassing Spain, France, Germany in area and second only to the Russian Federation. But what did the map of Ukraine look like before 1939, before joining the Soviet Union?

It is considered to be 1654, the year of the formation of the first independent Ukrainian state created by Bohdan Khmelnytsky during the uprising against the Commonwealth. During the reign of Catherine II in the Russian Empire, such cities as Kherson, Kirovograd, Nikolaev, Odessa and Dnepropetrovsk were founded on the lands of the present south of Ukraine. In December 1917, the Ukrainian People’s Republic of Soviets was created, in which the city of Kharkov was the capital, until it was replaced by Kiev in December 1934 at the 7th Congress of the Communist Party.

By the end of 1922, Ukraine had a total of 10 provinces. Taganrog and the eastern part of Donbass, which had belonged since 1920, returned to the RSFSR in 1924. As a result of the addition of 6 regions, the people’s meeting ended in Lviv and adopted the declaration of October 27, 1939 “On the entry of Western Ukraine into the Ukrainian SSR.” The borders of Ukraine changed more than once until 1939, the map was reprinted almost every year.

Cherkasy is one of the largest cities in Ukraine with a population of more than 280 thousand people. It is considered the center of the economy and industry. Satellite images show that the city is located on the territory of the right bank of the Dnieper on the artificial Kremenchug reservoir. The distance to Kiev is only about 160 km.

The history of Cherkassy dates back to the middle of the 19th century. At that time, they began to actively establish railway communication, and more and more cargo ships were floated along the rivers.

Despite the large population, the city is currently compact and occupies only 70 km2. Cherkasy is divided into two parts by Smelyanskaya Street. The right and left banks are connected by platinum, along which rail and road traffic is organized. Also in the Sosnovy district of Cherkassy there is a dam of the reservoir.

Lviv is joining the seven largest megacities of Ukraine. It is located in the western part of the country and is the unpublished capital of Western Ukraine. A very beautiful metropolis, Lviv, was founded in the 13th century.

From the stage of its foundation, it began to develop rapidly under the leadership of the Galician ruler Daniil Romanovich. Every century, other rulers were in power in the metropolis, immigrants from other countries settled here, and in the 15th century Jesuit monks settled here. They managed to subjugate the princely treasury, and also became the organizers of the construction of beautiful churches on the territory of the fortification. Regionally Lviv is divided into 6 districts.

The historical center is located in the Galician district. This zone itself was a fortified princely palace with princely chambers in the 13th-14th centuries. Peter I also took part in the arrangement of the city of Lvov. When his crew entered the metropolis, they were mired in mud on the market square, and the Russian ruler ordered to lay it out with wooden paving stones.

Khmelnitsky is one of the largest cities in western Ukraine. It has a rich six-hundred-year history, which begins with a small settlement of Ploskirov. The city is located on the banks of the Southern But River, which is clearly visible from the satellite. But the area also boasts other bodies of water.

South Booth divides the city into two parts. Therefore, in the city you can see many bridges, which are marked on the maps and schemes of Khmelnytsky. The areas of the right and left banks are connected by six road and three railway bridges. The right bank, where the city center is located, is considered to be a historically important part. After all, it was there that the village of Ploskirov appeared.

The population of Khmelnytsky is over 270 thousand people. The city is divided into six districts. Each of them is provided with shopping centers, industrial enterprises, educational and medical institutions and suburban bus stations.

The development of the territory does not have a clear structure: parks, all kinds of green spaces, rivers make the neighborhoods uneven.
